Eland hits pay at Opuama

Eland Oil & Gas subsidiary Elcrest Exploration and Production Nigeria Ltd has struck oil in he Opuama-10 well on the Opuama field in OML 40 in the Niger Delta.

Opuama-10 has been drilled to a total true vertical depth of 2,477m (8,121ft), measured depth of 3,091m (10,135ft). The well encountered six oil-bearing reservoirs with total net pay of 94m (307ft) apparent vertical thickness.

Following completion, the Opuama production team will conduct a maximum efficient test, incrementally testing the well at increasing choke sizes. It is expected that, following completion of the test, initial gross production from Opuama-10 will be in line with previous guidance, at between 4,000-6,000 b/d of oil (1,800-2,700 b/d net to Elcrest), with total production from the Opuama field expected to reach 30,000 b/d (13,500 b/d net to Elcrest).
